Do you feel like motherhood has changed your approach to photography and shifted your sensibilities in your consulting work?
Man, that is such a good question and it has kind of stumped me. Feeling like I’m just kind of coming out of this zone of giving all my energy and focus to one little being, who you have to keep alive, fed, rested, warm, cool, loved, secure, etc, etc, I’m still trying to figure out what has changed in that respect. I mean, becoming a mother has changed my whole life and perspective and again, I feel exactly like me. Baktash and I have made a real conscious effort to not be the type of people who when they become parents they feel that things have to be a certain way, that everything has to change, and you have to be like a different person in some way. Honestly for Zia’s first year, I just took him to coffeeshops with me, to meet my friends or to the beach if I wanted to swim. I’d strap him in his Ergo for photoshoots, or travel across oceans to see my family.
