Let's talk a little bit about your background, you started designing from a young age and had a successful bag line before taking time off to have your two girls.
Well I think I always wanted to be a designer, but coming from an immigrant family, my parents didn't really encourage it, and instead really focused on more “secure professions” - which kind of prolonged my path to my destiny. Though they provided me with the tools to pursue my interests, they never thought of it as a professional path. I wish I still had it, but I had stacks and stacks of 81/2x11 sheets of designs that I would do. I remember them, in categories. Wedding dresses, businesswomen clothes, big shoulder pads, party dresses. Whatever space I would walk into I would look at and start thinking about how I would decorate it, if it were mine to decorate. You know. And I always loved to make things with my hands. Whatever it was. Necklaces, friendship bracelets. Projects, I would call them.
