What’s approach when designing a space for a client?
My favourite is working under a lot of constraints like space, budget...the more the better. It sounds crazy but I actually enjoy having parameters in my design process. It forces me to be more creative in the way I solve problems.
What were your main challenges starting out and what insights had you gained from your previous forays into owning your own business?
I think the main challenge in being self employed is that you constantly have to hustle for that next job. There’s a high that comes along with creating and conceptualizing a project but that’s only a small part of the whole process. When you work for a corporation, someone else is in charge of finding that next project so you get more time designing and creating. In an ideal world, I think I would have some kind of account manager who would interface with the clients and scout out the next gig so I could focus on just design.
